Description:
Simba came into foster care at the age of ten. He lived in Maine with his first family until his "mom" had to sell her house and move to a condo. The condo did not allow pets. Simba then moved in with the son but when the son had a new baby, the demands of the new baby and Simba were too much and Simba was put into foster care.

Simba is up-to-date on his shots and is neutered. He is a loveable, adaptable dog who just wants a permanent home to call his own.

When Simba came into his foster home, he was lethargic and had little or no energy. His food changed to a low-fat dry food and Simba was encouraged to exercise. In a week his energy level changed and Simba now enjoys daily walks with his foster family. He loves to chew on chew toys, will bury his favorites for later, and gets along with everyone. He has the sweetest personality and gets along with everyone. He loves to be cuddled and loves to explore. There is not an aggressive bone in his body. He sleeps on his back and snores. He is crate happy.

Simba has two health issues. One is that he is blind. His first family thought he could see shapes but a move to a new house and he was bumping into everything. His loss of eyesight has been verified by the doctor. However, since he can't see, his sense of smell and his sense of hearing is very acute. He will happily follow your footsteps and immediately responds when called. He would never run away from you, he depends on your voice to "guide" him. When he does bump into something, it doesn't upset him, he just moves on.

Simba's other health issue is that he may Cushings disease. The symptom that alerted his foster family is that he drinks a lot of water. SInce a lot of water goes in, a lot of water comes out. Diabetes has been ruled out and Cushings is the suspected culprit but as long as Simba can go outside often, he is fine. At this time, he is not on any medication for Cushings disease.

Simba has a lot to offer a family who wants a loving companion and a devoted friend. Since he has some health issues, he is so very grateful and appreciative when you care for him. Simba is great with children, other dogs and all adults. Everyone who meets him comments on his low-key attitude toward life and his appreciation for a fond pat on his head. History
Simba was surrendered by his owner who had him since he was puppy. His owner was devastated to have to give him up but had no choice since moving into a condo with a no pet policy and would like only to have him be loved and have a loving home.
