Provide foster care. This is always our most pressing need - a place for the dog to be evaluated and to be safe while we look for a permanent home. Submit a Volunteer Application if you can help.
Transport dogs to or from foster or adoptive homes, or coordinate transportation in your area. Contact transport@americanbrittanyrescue.org
Make a TAX-DEDUCTIBLE donation. Help us care for the Brittanys in foster homes, board dogs when we have no foster space, and get the word out with educational and other materials. We are a 100% volunteer-run, non-profit organization. You can make a donation online, or by mail!
Be A Brittany Buddy! If you can't foster or adopt, you can still help one of our dogs needing a little extra help by sponsoring a "Brittany Buddy". See the dogs that need you on the Buddy page.
Support the Jake Fund. Created to help foster & adoptive homes that take in senior Britts (8 years and up). Read the details here.
Purchase ABR items. We've got several very nice Brittany items available. Order online or by check!
Shop with our affiliates. ABR has teamed with several companies offering items for sale that may intrigue you! Simply follow the links on our Shopping page to make your purchase and help Brittanys in need!
Put up ABR flyers in your local pet stores, feed stores, vet offices, shelters. You can get flyers at PR@americanbrittanyrescue.org
Send mailings to gain local awareness and support for ABR. Your state coordinator will design a mailer and give you addresses, ABR will pay for postage and materials. You'll just need to label and stamp the mailers and drop them in the mail.
Help with the website. We are often looking for experienced web editors to help with the website. Contact web@americanbrittanyrescue.org
Are you a pilot or airplane owner? The "On Madine's Wings" Foundation is looking for volunteers interested in helping transport rescued Brittanys by plane to foster or adoptive families. Read the details here. |
For those who are experienced with Brittanys but are unable to help in the ways listed to the left, please consider offering your expertise to:
Evaluate dogs at shelters to be sure they are purebred Brittanys. Shelter volunteers often call us about dogs who are actually Springers, Setter mixes, or other breeds. For those that are Brittanys but are in an area where there is no foster home available, we can also use photos to post on the website. Submit a Volunteer Application.
Help with home visits. This may include helping to evaluate and give advice on a dog an owner is having trouble with, or evaluating a potential adoptive home. This is a great way for breeders and trainers who can't take on any more dogs to offer their experience and expertise. Submit a Volunteer Application.
Organize a fundraiser through your club. ABR has many items you can make available for sale at one of your club's events, or, many clubs donate some or all of the proceeds from their show & trial raffles to rescue. For information, contact Linda Kelty.
American Brittany Club Members: Remember rescue when you vote for club officers and ABC Directors. Your vote can make a big difference in having club leadership that recognizes and supports Brittany Rescue locally and nationwide.
Organize a Rescue Parade! LaSalle Brittany Club hosted the first ever Brittany Rescue Parade in 2001. This is a great way to gain recognition for local rescue efforts! Ask Linda Kelty for details.
Be a mentor for people in your area who are considering bringing a Brittany into their lives. Show off your dogs' talents and personalities, and you'll be helping to reduce the number of people who get a Brittany without understanding what the breed is like!
